What is Indian Version Of Linux?
Linux India or you can say the BOSS Linux is an Indian version of Linux developed by CDAC. It is the government organization that was established to develop super computers for India.
BOSS Linux is being promoted by Indian government for many reasons. these are as follows:
- BOSS Linux is developed in India so all data of Indians will be within the country.
- Finance is also a good reason for it because 99% Indians use Microsoft Windows or Apple Mac and both of these are highly expensive. Meanwhile Linux kernel is free and so, by applying Linux kernel into government systems can save thousands of crores.
- As I said 99% of Indians are using either Windows or Mac and thus Indian government has no control over the data flow and other stuff. But, if they start using BOSS Linux, the government would have full control over it.
Why Should we use Linux?
We should be using Linux for many reasons.
LifeTime Free Updates:
If you are a Mac user then you might know but if you’re not then you should know that in Mac you need to pay even if for updates you get. That’s horrible right? I mean who wants to pay for updates? It’s the company’s duty to provide regular updates.
Linux is completely free as it is an open-source project. And not just kernel but also all distributions of Linux are free
And so, you don’t need to pay a penny to any company. Meanwhile if you use Windows or Mac, you’ll have to spend thousands to buy a copy of OS.
Secure:
Linux is believed to be more secure than Windows. Mac is also secure but it’s extremely expensive.
Windows is the most popular operating system and the most vulnerable as well.
Or you can say that Windows is the most targeted operating system by hackers and the reason behind it is that it’s popular.
Wide range of Options to choose:
Mac and Windows both are owned by companies and so, they have limited edition of their operating systems.
As you know Linux is an open source project. Many organizations have developed their own distributions.
And so, you get a wide range of Linux distributions and all for free.
You learn a lot.
Linux is an academy in itself. It is used by cyber security experts. Also, most of the web servers are based on Linux because it’s cost-effective. And thus there are a lot of things like cyber security, servers etc when you use Linux.
No Auto-run in Linux:
Do you know what’s one thing that makes it so easy to hack into a Windows system?
No? No worries, just continue reading..
One thing that makes it easy to hack a windows system is the auto-run feature. What’s that?
Auto-run is a feature that allows programs to start running in the background. But, it becomes a headache when any malicious program gets installed into the system and starts running in the background.
BOSS Linux Vs Windows 10
So, I’m pretty sure if you’re a windows user then you might be using Windows 10 and if yes then let’s compare a few things about both.
Stability:
There is a phrase Linux users use is “Linux requires root and Windows requires reboot” means that in order to run something you need root access in Linux and while Windows needs to be rebooted multiple times a day.”
So, in this scenario Linux wins.
User Interface:
Windows 10 has a beautiful user interface and that’s a reason it is so popular. Most people don’t even know that BOSS Linux also has graphical user Interface and so they fear using Linux.
But, in terms of user Interface Windows 10 wins with it’s simple lovely interface.
Updates:
One thing I hate about Windows 10 is updates. Windows is updating itself all the time and eating my internet speed. It doesn’t require any user permission to download updates.
While in BOSS Linux you decide whether you want to update your system or not.
Conclusion:
So, the matter is that India now has its own operating system. And the government should now replace windows systems with BOSS Linux ASAP in order to save money and data.
